Most of the teachers taught in the Convent
school or the Boys school before amalgamation of the two schools in 1991. Ms. Cotter and Mrs. Boylan
joined the staffin September 2001 .
Ms. Doris in 2002. Ms Horan and Ms Keane in 2005. Ms O'Loughlin and Ms. Rellis
in 2006. Mr Kirby in 2007

The
principal is Michael Curran. He taught in Dublin, and Waterford, and came to
Portlaw in Jan. 1986.
Mrs.
Maureen Halley began her teaching career in Portlaw Convent School. Appointed
Deputy Principal in May 2001
She is one of our Resource/Learning Support teachers
Mrs.
Therese Keyes has taught in Ferrybank and then Portlaw Boys National School
She is one of our Resource/Learning Support teachers
Mrs Mary
Phelan began her teaching career in Portlaw.
She teaches first class
Ms.
Peggy McCarthy began her teaching career in Portlaw Boys National
School.
She is one of our Resource/Learning Support teachers

Ms. Bríd Cotter teaches Fourth Class. Bríd is a native of West Cork
and joined the staff from Mary Immaculate College in September 2001.

Mrs. Siobhán Boylan is a native of Portlaw and joined the staff from
Curraghbaha N.S in September 2001. Siobhán coaches the football and
camogie teams.
Siobhán teaches Senior Infants.
Ms. Elaine Doris joined the staff from Portarlington in September 2002. Elaine also studied
for her degree in journalism in USA.
Elaine teaches Fifth Class
Ms. Ann Marie Horan joined the staff following
in 2005 after two years teaching in Dublin. Ann Marie is an avid GAA
supporter and trained the U-10 school football team.
She teaches Junior Infants
Ms. Jane Keane is a native of Kilmacthomas and joined
the staff in 2005 after completing her course in Wales
She teaches second class.
Ms
Kate O'Loughlin. Kate previously taught in the school as a temporary teacher and
was appointed permanent teacher in 2006. Kate was selected for the Irish ladies
rugby squad.

Mr David Kirby is a native of Piltown and previously taught in
Dublin. David is an avid hurling fan and joined the
staff in September 2007
Ms. Susan Rellis was appointed to our Special Unit in
2006. Susan has qualified as a Montessori teacher from Dublin.
Ms. Sinéad Fitzgerald was appointed
Special Needs Assistant in September
2000. Sinéad has been responsible for some of the beautiful art work on
display in the school and for Confirmation and First Communion.
Mrs.
Martina O'Donoghue is the school secretary and also helps Mrs. Boylan with the
camogie and football teams.
Mrs Valerie Tebay
was appointed Special Needs Assistant in June 2002. Valerie previously worked
in the Mercy pre-school. In her spare time Valerie can be found on the
golf course.
Ms. Pauline Murphy was appointed
Special Needs Assistant in July 2005. Pauline
previously worked in Owning N.S.
Mrs Caroline Corcoran
was appointed Special Needs Assistant in September 2005. Caroline is a native of
Tramore.
Ms. Sharon Galvin
was appointed Special Needs Assistant in Sept. 2005. Sharon is a native of Portlaw
and has gained extensive experience in this area while working in Canada.
