Defeat in U-13 A final
On the 10th of
November 2004 the U-13A girls
played their final against Holy Cross in Walsh Park. Portlaw had great support
but couldn’t defeat the Holy Cross team. The girls came on to the field and
did their exercises the referee blew his whistle and the game began. Portlaw won
the ball but it was gone again. At this stage Holy Cross had scored their first
point. The Portlaw goalie kicked it out to Zoe O Donoghue. Zoe caught the ball
and tried to get a goal but it hit the post. The half time whistle blew and Holy
Cross scored a goal. Portlaw then got the ball and Siobhan Whelan scored a goal.
Holy Cross goalie kicked it out and the final whistle blew. Holy Cross had won
by a single point. The Portlaw girls were very disappointed. We walked back to
the dressing room and went back home.

INTO County Final 2005
The girls retained the Eastern section of the INTO seven-a-side
football. The county final was played in Abbeyside against a very strong Lismore
team. A great performance was given by each member but Lismore deservedly won
the county final.
